Mentor to Leadership Community Development Corporation is a non-profit corporation and shall operate exclusively for educational and charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future Federal tax code.

 

Founder Ashley J. Cartwright discovered after being homeless herself, the only way to find stable housing and keep it she would need to learn long-term solutions.  Growing up in a single parent household, she lacked the basic knowledge of completing job applications, applying to colleges, knowing how to search for affordable housing and understanding the basics of maintaining everything. 

 

Today with homelessness behind her, she has developed the Mentor to Leadership Community Development Corporation to assist individuals and families with homeless prevention.

Homeless Prevention 101: Hosting monthly budgeting workshops at local libraries and teaching clients how to apply to affordable housing.

 

Career Readiness: Resume development workshops and purchasing interview clothing for first-time program participants.

 

College Readiness: Teaches program participants how to complete their FAFSA application and apply for scholarships.

 

Travel Experiences: Teaches program participants how to apply for a United States Passport and taking participants on domestic trips.

 

Formal Etiquette: Lessons on how to conduct yourself during a work dinner with coworkers and company galas.

 

Shelter Pet to Home: A program that assist aged out foster adults with adopting a pet from a local shelter.

 

Abortion Is Healthcare: This program assists women who need to come to the State of New Jersey for an abortion.
